Chapters 6 & 11 Reading Responses

Response to Chapter 6: Digital Technologies in the Classroom
Please respond to the following question. In your response to this post on your blog page, make sure to include specific details from the chapter to support your opinions and statements. The responses should be 6-8 sentences, but do not need to be extremely long. Just make sure to give your response and support for your reasoning.
Responses are  Due by Wednesday, October 12, 5:00 pm.

Question: Based on the information in chapter 6, would you prefer to teach in a classroom that had more or less digital technologies? Why or why not?

Chapter 11: Audiovisual Technologies
For both audio and visual technologies, identify one traditional and one emerging technology from the book, and explain how you could potentially use all four devices in the classroom. Post your responses on your blog page you created for this class.
Responses are due by Wednesday, October 12, 5:00 pm.

Helpful Hints
- You do not need to use all four at once within the classroom. Just say how you could possibly use all four.
- Make sure to proof your posts for correct spelling and grammar. You will lose points for pervasive errors.
- Have fun and be creative with the possible ways you could use these different technologies!!

    CH. 6 RESPONSE
Based on the information presented in chapter six I think I would like to teach in a classroom with a moderate amount of technology. Technology such as electronic whiteboard or also known as the SMART board; with this I could have students participate in the class activities by solving problems and playing educational games. Another technology I would want in my classroom would be Data projectors. Data projectors would be perfect for the classroom so we could view educational films, power point projects, and presentations from speakers. Overall the technology I would like in my class is the kind students will be permitted to use for fun educational purposes also for taking notes.

    CH 11. RESPONSE
    AUDIO (Traditional & Emerging)
The traditional technology I have chosen was a cassette tape. Children could use this to listen to books instead of the teacher reading them to the class, and they are still very popular today especially with older books.
The emerging technology I have chosen would be the cd. Much like the cassette tape the cd can play books to students, but also the cd can play music or movies sometimes presentations and even show pictures.

    VISUAL (Traditional & Emerging)
The traditional visual technology I have chosen for the classroom is bulletin boards. They are fun and festive ways to get points across, educate students on events, display expectations, and finally display student work. Also I think having students design their own bulletin board would help spark they’re creativity and have them participate in the class.
The emerging visual technology I have chosen to show in the classroom would be a digital projector. It can display what I want to show my students from the comfort of my own computer. Also the whole entire class can see it and hook it up to their computers and show the class their ideas.

    Chapter 6
After reading chapter six in our books, I made the decision that I would much rather be in a classroom that had more digital technologies compared to one that didn’t. Having access to numerous digital technologies in your classroom helps increase the students ability and want to learn. It makes learning a lot more interesting and fun for them and in return it also helps them to do better in school. I definitely think it is important for the students to have access to computers in the classroom because there is a enormous amount of education software that can be incorporated into the lesson plans. I think that another helpful piece of equipment to have would be an electronic whiteboard. It allows you to save all of the information on it before erasing it and that can be very helpful especially in cases where students miss class and need to copy down the work/notes. It is also possible to hook up some of the boards to the internet. This could be helpful if you wanted to show your class an educational video from the internet that goes along with your lesson plan. Overall, I definitely would rather be put into a class room with more digital technologies than one that didn’t have as many.

    Chapter 11
One traditional audio technology would be cassettes and cassette players. This could be used in the classroom in a listening center and you could have the students listen to part of a book on tape. A more current and emerging audio technology would be internet radio. This could be useful because you could have your students listen to national or world news. Broadcast video would be considered a traditional visual technology. You could incorporate broadcast video into your classroom by having your students watch educational programming on a channel such as PBS. A newer audio technology would be digital video cameras. You could have your students get into groups and each group could make an instructional video on a different section they are learning about in class. Altogether the class could then watch all of the videos.

  3. Response to Chapter 6: Digital Technologies in the Classroom

I think I would rather have more technology within the classroom for many reasons. 1 being that having digital technology within the classroom makes it easier for student to find certain information for their projects and papers. I also think this would also benefit those who our struggling at home for money and do not have computers to there access that this would be a great opportunity for those students to be able to adapt to that technology.
